Tree Landscaping

Picture of the Day for 1/14/2014. I was driving along 7th East today (a major thoroughfare in Salt Lake City) and noticed these trees looked like they had been cut in half. They had been landscaped so their branches didn't interfere with power lines. Poor trees! The shape kind of resembles a hand holding up a catcher's mitt.
