My Mother Had a Southern Accent
Picture of the Day for 3/18/2011. My sister Paula made a CD of a tape our family had recorded for her in 1975 while she was living in California. My parents, my sister Robynne, and I all took turns talking on the tape. I burst into tears when I listened to the CD since this was the first time in my entire life I could hear my mother's southern accent. It annoyed me to no end that I knew she had one, but I was unable to discern it when she was alive. She just sounded like my mother.
I was just fixin' to turn 13 when we made the tape. I sound so young and sweet and innocent. Sadly, that ship has soooo sailed...
