Picture of the Day for 5/5/2011. My friend Karl graduated today with a master's degree in nutrition. This represents years of hard work- not just the two required for the degree, but several additional ones for all the pre-requisite science courses he had to take prior to applying for the program.
Karl started down this path after his father was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident over five years ago. At the time, Karl was working at a job he didn't love. After his father's death, Karl reflected upon the fact that his father was passionate to the very end about his chosen profession as a scientist. This inspired Karl to work towards a career he was equally passionate about and he felt that going back to school would be a fitting tribute to his father. I think Karl's dad would be very proud of him.
