Too Many Cables

Picture of the Day for 1/5/2013. I need to hook up my cable box to my DVD/VCR combo to my digital TV. Supposedly this diagram tells me how to do it, but I'm suspicious. I think it lies to me- as most instruction guides do.

    stupid lying instruction guide...i would kick it in the shins if it had any...but i've never met an instruction guide that did..
