Longmire Obsession

Picture of the Day for 8/5/2013. I just discovered the TV series Longmire which is about a small-town Wyoming sheriff who is dealing with the recent death of his wife. 




The actor who plays Longmire has a deep, gravely voice. I'm a sucker for great voices. 




Of course my obsession launched an extensive Google search for all things Longmire. It turns out the show is based on a series of novels by Craig Allen Johnson. There are books to read! There's nothing better than discovering a great new series to read. Sadly, my obsession and knowledge of Johnson's existence began precisely one day after he made an appearance in Salt Lake City for a book signing. Dang.




But wait! It turns out there's a Longmire Days festival in Buffalo, Wyoming. I haven't missed it! It's the weekend of August 17-18, 2013. Wyoming is right next to Utah. It can't be that far, can it?




But wait! It turns out it is too far for a quick jaunt up to the festival. 522 miles away to be exact, according to Google maps. Dang.
