Picture of the Day for 7/5/2011. I've been working on getting into the office before 8:00 a.m.* rather than moseying in at 9:30 (which had been my habit for years). No matter what time I arrive, however, I can never seem to beat one colleague who comes into work very early each day. This has preyed upon my mind (due to the fact that I'm hyper competitive) to the point it has become a quest. I finally achieved victory today at 6:45 a.m. when I was the first person to arrive at work. Pictured above is my colleague's dark and empty office. Ha!*Another colleague of mine is fond of saying that it sure makes for a long workday when you arrive on time. Ain't that the truth.
Picture of the Day for 7/3/2011. Today is my niece Renee's 35th birthday. I took the cutest picture of her in front of her cake as we're singing Happy Birthday to her, but as the picture is a little bit silly and Renee is a picture-phobe, I decided I better not post it. If you want to see a copy, just email me and I'll send it to you. After the official festivities concluded, we gathered downstairs to watch a marem DVD that my honorary niece Kellie had assembled for Renee. Instead of explaining marems here, I'll point you to a previous post on the topic. In the words of my nieces, the DVD was "epic."
Picture of the Day for 7/2/2011. As I was typing "Gym Hours" above, I almost accidentally typed "Gym Horrors." I'm sure there's something Freudian about that. I took a picture of my gym's operating hours since I can never remember what they are on the weekends.
Picture of the Day for 7/1/2011. Sorry about the delayed blog postings. I was having problems with the my internet connection over the weekend. My colleague Richard and I are so busy at work that we're both usually toiling away in the office after hours. To alleviate the tedium, we'll go trolling for chocolate. We hit the mother lode the other day when we discovered a woman from the other side of the office had filled her candy jar with mini Reese's peanut butter cups. Yay for peanut butter cups! Instead of replenishing the candy supply once we realized we had consumed more than our fair share, we piled up the candy to make the jar look more fully than it actually is. Smoke and mirrors.
Picture of the Day for 6/30/2011. I have fond memories of rummaging through my grandmother Merrill's box of miscellaneous buttons when I was a little girl. I suspect saving buttons used to be a common practice when clothing was not so easily obtained. Now I have a jar where I keep all those extra buttons that come with new articles of clothing. It's a fun little reminder of my childhood.
Picture of the Day for 6/29/2011. So, what's wrong with this picture? I'll tell you. It's a grievous mistake to place a full cup of liquid in front of one's work laptop. I accidentally knocked over my cup of tea and although I immediately jumped up and grabbed my laptop away from the spill, it was too late. The liquid had gotten into the machine and it just went poof. Oops. Sadly, this is the 2nd computer at work that I've ruined. A few years ago, Diet Coke was the culprit. Oops. Luckily, the hard drive wasn't damaged and I was able to switch it out to another machine.
