Expressing My Innermost Thoughts

Picture of the Day for March 13, 2016. I asked my niece Chantal to purchase a journal for me for Christmas. She did a lovely job- choosing one with a plaid cover as a nod to my love of all things Outlander. I wanted one because I thought it would actually be nice to document my thoughts and my life in greater detail than I do in my blog. I actually have some deep(ish) thoughts to express, but it turns out I don't have the energy. At least not yet. The ordeal with my legs/feet over the past couple of months wiped me out and then work has been so busy. And so, this journal remains a blank slate for now...

Floral Chair

Picture of the Day for March 12, 2016. I think I've turned into a 95-year-old little old lady. I saw this floral chair at an antique store today and seriously considered buying it.

Oklahoma City National Memorial

Picture of the Day for March 11, 2016. My client meeting ended at noon today which left me with nearly nine hours to go before my flight back home to Salt Lake. I decided to visit the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum and ended up spending several hours there. The most heartbreaking sight was the teddy bear resting on one of the chairs that comprise the outdoor memorial. There's one chair for each of the 168 victims of the 1995 bombing which included several children.

Cheerleaders Accross the Hall

Picture of the Day for March 10, 2016. I flew into Oklahoma City today for a business meeting tomorrow and finally arrived at my hotel close to midnight.

I took the elevator up to my floor.

I walked down the corridor to my room and noticed there was a sign like this on every door except mine.

Great.

Cheerleaders.

A hotel full of cheerleaders. Lord help me.

I was worried they were going to make a lot of noise, but I think they were all asleep by the time I arrived. In fact, I probably was irritating some of them with the noise I was making rolling my suitcase along the floor and getting into my room.

They were probably thinking, "Dang businesswoman getting in late. Lord help me."

Striking White Tree

Picture of the Day for March 9, 2016. Went for a walk around the neighborhood and noticed this striking white tree for the first time even though this neighbor just lives a couple of houses away from me. I hope white is its natural color rather than being a striking dead tree...

Bathroom Revamping Gone Wrong

Picture of the Day for March 7, 2016. A few weeks ago I blogged about adding some color to my very beige bathroom. I decided to try these new hooks to hang up my new shower curtain. They are a a good idea in theory since you don't have to wrangle with any clasps, but they don't work so well in reality. The shower curtain and liner have been making a regular break for freedom.

Another Author Buddy

Picture of the Day for March 6, 2016. I didn't realize until after I got home that my new Sleuthfest buddy, Sandy Parks, is an author in her own right. At the conference she was telling me all about her sister being an author, but didn't really make a big deal about her own writing. I've read her novels! And enjoyed them!

Santa Hat for a Fish

Picture of the Day for March 4, 2016. Tonight the family celebrated my great-niece Sadie's 10th birthday and my sister Paula's 10 + several years birthday. Sadie is pictured here next to a fish she drew - wearing a Santa hat of course (the fish - not Sadie).

Lexi Carmichael Series

Picture of the Day for March 3, 2016. One of the friends I made at Sleuthfest last week, Sandy Parks,  has a younger sister who writes mystery novels. When she said her sister's name was Julie Moffet and the novels are called the Lexi Carmichael series, I about fell over. I had been looking at those novels just the week previously and wondering if I should give them a try.  After talking to Sandy, I immediately downloaded the first one in the series, No One Lives Twice, and have really enjoyed it. Lexi is a nerdy computer expert who works for the NSA at the beginning of the first novel and ends up getting involved in many adventures.

Bad Leg

Picture of the Day for March 2, 2016.  My feet and my legs aren't getting any better. This is the picture I took for my Teladoc consultation today. I emailed a photo of my leg and five minutes later a local physician called me. I finally got the antibiotics I've known I needed for the past month.  Hopefully, this will do the trick.

Bringing the Birds Home

Picture of the Day for March 1, 2016. I brought my birds home from their stay with their Aunt Robynne. I l laugh that most of the time they think I'm Satan and to be avoided at all costs, but when I'm driving them to/from their babysitters they cling to the side of the cage closest to me the entire way. I must represent some level of security for them- up until the point we're back home and I resume my role as Satan in their lives.
